Description:
A beautiful extremely fine or better 1293 AH 32nd year of Sultan Abdul Hamid II reign, or 1906 AD, Egyptian Five Qirsh (or pistres) silver coin. Abdul Hamid II is the Ottoman Sultan who ruled the Islamic world in the period 1876-1909. The coin depicts the tughra of Abdul Hamid the second with the denomination under it and a rose to its right all surrounded by branches and having two crossing quivers under it all. The bottom of the obverse shows the mint mark "H". The reverse says "Duribah Fi Misr" or struck in Egypt with the number 32 over the "beh" in duribah (for 32nd reginal year of Abdul-Hamid's reign) and the date 1293 AH under it for the year when Abdul-Hamid ascended the throne, all surrounded by branches and having three stars on top. Just a beautiful design and a great looking coin. The coin is beautiful and is nicely toned. The coin still has all of its details well preserved and very readable. Egypt, actually these coins were struck in Birmingham England as evidenced by the mint mark "H" at the bottom of the obverse.
Size and weight:
This is a 5 Qirsh, weighs approximately 7 grams of 0.833 silver and is about 26 mm in diameter.

Condition:
I would grade this coin as a beautiful extremely fine or much better with all the details being very well preserved and very nice eye appeal. It does have minor scratches, nicks, and some minor bag marks. The coin is nicely toned is particularly dark along the edge of the reverse from embedded soiling. The obverse has what I would characterize as a Champaign toning with a light pinkish hue. The coin also has wear, especially on the high points, commensurate with its age and circulated status. Be that as it may the coin has very nice eye appeal, is great looking, and is much better than the photos suggest. Please see photo for additional condition information.
