    Description

    Hi there,
    You are bidding on
Philippines Coins - 1978 Philippines Proof Set
    .
The 1978 Proof Set includes a newly designed silver coin to commemorate an illustrious figure of the recent past and
one with a special commemorative design to be used only in 1978
    .
    You will receive:
    - The 1978 coinage of the Republic of the Philippines includes two coins bearing special commemorative designs honoring the 100th anniversary of the birth of “the father of Philippine independence"- Manuel L. Quezon. The fifty-piso coin, minted in sterling silver, bears a portrait of Quezon who, as first president of the Philippine Commonwealth, was the prime architect of its nationhood. Appropriately, the commonwealths' official seal is also depicted on the coin.
    - Complementing this coin is the twenty-five-piso piece, minted in .500 fine silver. Its new design features the Quezon Memorial, which rises more than 200 feet above Quezon City- the nation's capital
    - The five-piso coin pays tribute to Ferdinand Marcos,
the kleptocrat President of the Philippines
    - The great patriot Jose Rizal is depicted on the one-piso coin
    - The first Philippine painter to win international fame, Juan Luna, is featured on the twenty-five-sentimo coin
    - Another national leader was Francisco Baltasar, who is commemorated on the ten-sentimo coin
    - Melchora Aquino, known as the "mother of the revolution," is honored on the five-sentimo coin, minted with an unusual scalloped edge
    - Square with rounded corners, the one-sentimo coin portrays the warrior chieftain Lapulapu who led the resistance to Spanish conquest in the 16th century
    - The Philippine coat of arms appears on the reverses of the fifty, twenty-five, five and one-piso coins. The reverses of the four smallest denomination coins carry the seal of the Central Bank, symbolizing the nation's economic development
    - Certificate of Authenticity to certify that the set is legal tender and is an original 1978 Proof Set minted by the Franklin Mint under authorization of the government of the Philippines
Item comes with its original presentation box, COA, and other documentation.
